Casa de Campo
Now many of you may argue with me why I haven’t started with the most famous park, well, simply because Casa de Campo is underrated among tourists, so would like to give it some emphasis.
Casa de Campo is not only the biggest green park In Madrid, but also the 2nd biggest park in Europe, covering 17,5 square kilometers. This space was originally a royal hunting ground. The park contains several attractions including Parque de atracciones de Madrid, the Madrid Arena, and the Madrid zoo.
Casa de campo has a wide range of cycling routes and for that reasons, it attracts many cylists especially on free days. The lake near the park entrance will be your ultimate place to have a break and to disconnect yourself.
Madrid Río is an enormous recreational and cultural spot situated along with Manzanares river. It was renovated during a 6 years period to be turned into a stunning new Riverside park. It is a great place for families to stroll and play in the many playgrounds located beside the river.
This area has over 30 of cycling paths where you can discover many things as you are doing your favorite activity, such as Matadero, Madrid’s former slaughterhouse.
The Retiro Park is not only a large urban park with over a 1,5 km square, it is also beautiful artistic gardens holding a lot of history and secrets. This former royal park is almost everyone’s favorite park because of the relaxing vibes you get once you enter the park. It is a great place for many kinds of sport, and cycling is known to be one of the best ways to discover this park. Start off by passing by the boating lake facing the monument of Alfonso XIII, then continue to Crystal Palace, a beautiful building made of glass that holds some art exhibits. Cycling in this Park is suitable for all levels and ages.
Cycling around the Historic centre can be a very interesting way to see Madrid, most of its beauty lies within a two kilometer radius. Start at Plaza Mayor, Madrid’s main square, then head down calle Mayor to discover the most ancient Madrid Buildings in Plaza de la villa. Afterwards, explore the breathtaking Almudena Cathedral and Royal Palace and wander in Sabatini Gardens. After that, head to Debod Temple, Madrid’s Gifted Egyptian Piece.
